Darnell

Ministry and Calling  Liz and her husband, Tim, were called into the education ministry since they began home educating their children in 1989. To this day, ministering to families by offering education opportunities is one of their greatest joys.

Experience  Liz has been administrator and co-founder of Faith United Home Educators (1990-1998), International Community School High School Administrator (1998-2007), and Headmaster of The Rock Academy and math teacher (2009-present).  She has more than 20 years of classroom teaching experience.

Mrs. Darnell serves on the corporate board of FCCPSA, a faith-based accreditation organization and has been affiliated with them for more than 25 years.

Kim 

Gibbons

Ministry and Calling

 While she specializes in analytical grammar, Mrs. Gibbon's main priority is to use the literature and the writing prompts and the everyday discussion that arises to reveal how God's truth is evident in all.

Experience

Mrs. Gibbons has taught for 17 years in elementary, middle and high school, primarily English and History.  She has been with TRA since 2013 and is a Lead Teacher sharing her experience with our faculty and staff.

Ryanne 

Graham

Ministry and Calling

 Ryanne has always had a passion for science and math.  As a former student of TRA, she volunteered more than 200 hours at the Ponce Marine Science Center.  She graduated with honors from TRA and went on to see her dream come true of earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology-completing the task in 3 years!

Andy

Green

Ministry and Calling

Mrs. Green is well known in the homeschooling community as a successful tutor, teacher, and coach.  She loves helping families reach their educational goals.  Mrs. Green shares her love of learning and demonstrates to students perseverance and excellence!

Experience

Mrs. Green is currently an educational and curriculum consultant for homeschooling families and provides her services of evaluator, tutor, and writing instructor.  

She has over 15 years of teaching experience and has been with TRA since 2016.

Joe

Hoffman

Ministry and Calling

Mr. Joe Hoffman has been a faithful member of The Rock Church for more than 18 years.  He is committed to the purpose and calling of this house and he is a demonstration of perseverance and dedication.

 

Education

  • Attended Seminole Community College:  Computer Science, Mathematics and Accounting

  • Software Developer in the private sector 11 years

  • Computer Consultant 16 years

  • Completed TRA New Teacher Training (20 hours)

 

Experience

Mr. Hoffman has been working in the area of computers for nearly 30 years.  He is a retired professional who brings his computer expertise and math skills to the students of TRA.

Kaley

Hoffman

Ministry and Calling

Mrs. Hoffman and her husband Matt teach their 3 children through The Rock Academy.   Mrs. Hoffman has a passion for the fine arts and brings the Kingdom truths of Christ to all things Theater!  She loves to bring out the creative giftings in students and encourages them to fulfill their call and purpose.

 

Education

  • Kaley Hoffman is a graduate of International Community School.

  • She is currently part of the worship team of The Rock Church and directs Inspirational Drama and Dance teams.

  • Theater/Drama Director at TRA 9 years.

 

Experience

Mrs. Hoffman has been teaching at TRA since 2009 and has produced 10 major productions including 5 musicals.  She is an accomplished singer and songwriter.

She brings her love of 'hands on learning' with creative projects and group activities to her Middle School History class as well.

Marilyn

Rivera

Ministry and Calling

Mrs. Rivera and her husband home educate their son through TRA.  Mrs. Rivera uses her talents of cooking and artistry to bless others and she makes every event special with her baked goods!

  • Private Baking Business: Specialty Cakes

 

Experience

Mrs. Rivera is truly a food artist.  She is an accomplished baker with an entire portfolio of original creations that rival what you would see on any cooking show.  Mrs. Rivera assisted for 2 years with our TRACES program.  She has served TRA as both volunteer and faculty member since 2016.   Mrs. Rivera had worked in early childhood education for more than 15 years.

Yanzza

Rojas-Negron

Ministry and Calling

Mrs. Rojas-Negron has been a vital part of the work of TRA for the last 3 years.  She has volunteered and substituted and taught for TRA as a vital part of the team.   She loves to take on a challenge and lead her students to success.

Experience

Mrs. Rojas-Negron has extensive teaching experience and has been an instructor for Seminole Community College, Meadowbrook Middle School, and Galaxy Middle School.  She has taught ESOL, Geography, American History, Social Science, and served on numerous boards as well as serving as a mentor to teachers.

Wanda

Smurr

Ministry and Calling

Mrs. Smurr is a dedicated and student-focused teaching professional who is committed to providing a well balanced, supportive and engaging learning environment for all students.  She seeks to glorify the Father in all things that she does.

  • Master of Science Degree: Mental health Counseling             NOVA Southeastern University, Orlando, Florida

  • State of Florida Professional Certification in Elementary Education Grades 1-6.

 

Experience

Mrs. Smurr has numerous certification endorsements and has enjoyed teaching Kindergarten.  She joins the TRA team in the 2019-2020 school year.

Dianna 

Strickland

Ministry and Calling

Mrs. Strickland has been a great part of the TRA teaching team since 2015.  She is genuinely concerned with the growth of her students and she is a demonstration of the Kingdom to them.

  • Fluent in Spanish as a native speaker

 

Experience

Dianna Strickland has years of experience as a home education parent, having raised 5 children and worked closely with The Rock Academy, International Community School, and For His Glory Co-op.

 

Mrs. Strickland has been very involved with the worship team at her church and has a wonderful warm relationship with her students.

Trisha 

Walshe

Ministry and Calling

Mrs. Walshe brings her passion, innovation, and experience to TRA and she is a blessing to all who attend her classes.  She consistently makes learning exciting while demonstrating her faith in a genuine and natural way.

Experience

Mrs. Walshe has been teaching since 1998 and she has been a part of the TRA teaching team since 2016.   Students love the interactive way she teaches--making everything exciting and meaningful.

Her goals are to serve typically-developing and gifted students and those with disabilities by addressing their individual needs.  

Mrs. Walshe is brilliant when it comes to differentiating instruction!

Hannah

Watkins

Ministry and Calling

Mrs. Watkins is a talented local artist that shares her faith and love of creating art with her students.  Through a variety of art mediums, she demonstrates the beauty of our Master Designer.

Experience

Mrs. Watkins has been teaching art in the Central Florida area for years, owning her own studio and reaching out to the community through her 'Art in the Park' program.  She is a professional clown and has been entertaining children through her 'Hannie the Clown' business.  She is a fabulous artist, face painter and entertainer.

Mrs. Miranda is a mother of four and along with her husband, is a faithful member 

of The Rock Church.  She shares her talents and organizational skills with the students of TRA in our after school care program.
